If the best Christopher can do is that Madonna's marriages have been stormy, she kissed Gwyneth Paltrow and she took drugs with showbiz executives...Simon & Schuster didn't get what they paid for.
(Note: I think Madonna's admission during her Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame speech about doing ecstasy with Michael Rosenblatt and toking up with Liz Rosenberg might have been done to neuter that part of Christopher's book. After all, it seems obvious Madonna has known about this book for ages.) P.S. The real "marriage made in hell" is that Madonna is using Britney Spears and her "Gimme More" in a mash-up with "Human Nature" on her tour...she is truly delusional in thinking Britney Spears's problems with the media have anything to do with how the media has ridden Madonna and some other stars unfairly. Britney is her own exploiter and oppressor, Madonna. Sheesh!
As for the marriage, truth be told...I'm happy if Madonna's happy and settled. But I'm not a huge fan of Guy, so it wouldn't be a disaster if they split. It would suck for the kiddies, though, and would be interesting to see how her image as an unlikeable person—but top parent—would transform. Some commenters assume I don't want to believe Madonna would be having an affair with A-Rod (as if this would make me think, what, she's bad?)...in reality, I think a lot of Madonna's fans miss her days as a hell-raising femme fatale, even if that's selfish.
I still would be surprised if she bedded A-Rod (and impressed!) I think his wife's filing for divorce might be opportunistic; we all know he's cheated on her before, and with this kind of public outpouring regarding a famous woman, it's got to help her divorce case.
In fact, it wouldn't be surprising to me if she deliberately leaked the concept of a Madonna/A-Rod affair to bolster the negotiations. We already know A-Rod is now into Kabbalah...thanks to a leak to the press by Cynthia's father (the mom-in-law's
got a big mouth, too); perhaps while Madonna was hooking a player into her
cult religion, his wife was laying the groundwork for divorcing a playa...
Madonna has lied to the media before—as have all stars.
The act of stardom is, itself, a lie. However, among liars, she's a fairly straight shooter, and
might be counted on not to issue a statement as specific as this (with some wiggle room on the Guy divorce wording) if she were sliding home with A-Rod:
"My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study. I have learned over the years not to take accusations and the many false reports about me very seriously. I also appreciate how fiction and fact seem to be perceived as one and the same by people who read both newspapers and the internet."
(I love that she had to leave out "magazines," since the statement went to People!)
What do you think? Or do you not care?
i dont want them to divorce. i know i'm in the minority but i think he is good for her.
i will still be reading CC's dumbass book cover to cover. what an ass

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she is 'allowing' this book to go forward to attempt to gain sympathy.
This whole affair baloney...reminded me that Madonna is ALWAYS in control and manipulating EVERYTHING in her sphere. The divorce gossip, esp in context of songs like Miles Away and She's Not Me, the ridiculous A-Rod affair, etc...LAME!
As for Britney...apparently M thinks there's still some blood to suck from that victim. Or maybe she's genuinely extending a helping...haha ha haaha ha ha ah!
But I'll admit I think a mash up of Gimmie More and Human Nature sounds hot.

I don't care.
But you're right about the Britney thing. Mental disorder or no mental disorder, she ATE UP all the attention she got last year. And you don't hear her complaining about it; it's the media and her rabid fans that are all "Poor Britney!" I don't think she gives a shit it or them.

*shit about it or them.

I'm not like the biggest fan of madonna's music, although I do like her song "Frozen" and a couple of others that I can't remember atm....
But! I totally think that she's f'ed up, seriously.
what's up with the whole frenching girls on stage, fake british accent, and kaballah thing??
Posted by: oliver darque | July 07, 2008 at 01:46 AM
Oliver: I don't think there is anything wrong with "Frenching girls onstage." That was CLASSIC. I've never been a Britney fan, but when she did that with her and Christina, it was brilliance. It was a loaded moment that people will never forget.
The accent is easy to explain—she's not being preTENshusssss. She slips into it when in England or just after being there, or anytime she's being put on the spot to explain something. Be smart, Madonna! And she measures her words and they come out clipped and English-sounding. I really doubt anyone married to a Brit, living mainly in England with children who undoubtedly who are growing up with a British lilt to their voice, is not going to have that mixed-up accent. That said, I prefer when Meeeeecheeeeegan sneaks back through.
Kabbalah, I am not into. I don't like any religions, nor am I "spiritual." But I will say I don't see it as being as fucked as Scientology (if she became a Scientologist, I would probably stop caring about Madonna almost completely), nor is it that weird compared to Judaism (to which it's related) or Christianity. I do see that it's helped ground her to some extent. I just worry with religions that they sometimes make their victims feel superior, which isn't anything Madonna needs.
Britney is going to ruin the concert for me, or that part of it.
I'm tellin' ya: The affair is fake. Guy Richie is a tough son of a bitch. If he felt Madonna were openly banging A-Rod, she'd be walking around with black eyes—and not the mysterious Botox/eyejob kind, yo.

Once again Madge follows in Mimi's footsteps by secretly dating the hot light-skinned pro athlete, ala sexy Derek Jeter...
Kidding! Jeez... I've been a fan of A-Rod every since I saw this -

- and yes, I DO miss her hell raisings!

Madonna is almost 50. Whether she stays married or not, she is not going to go back to her hell raising days when she was younger. That's just the way life is.
I really have no opinion about Guy since I know nothing about him as a person. But it's always sad when couples with children split up especially if they've been together for a long time. it causes a lot of pain, so I don't wish that on anyone especially not Madonna. But at the same time, if a couple is fighting all the time, it is better to end it and go your seperate ways because all the fighting is a bad environment for kids to grow up in.
I don't think Madonna is having an affair with A-rod, but I do think most likely she and Guy will split up. But I don't wish that on her.
I think the media has been very hard on Britney. Yes, she is responsible for her own problems with drugs etc. But non-famous people have those same problems and make those same mistakes, but their problems aren't reported in the media all the time. It's hard to get well with all that press. I don't think Britney wanted those reporters to follow her around all the time. People are so quick to judge a famous person like Britney for their mistakes, but we all make mistakes. So it is hypocritical. That is Madonna's point.
Whatever you think of Britney, I think some of her songs on her last album are great and could make a great mash-up.

I agree with Karen on this.
I detest Britney, I admit I did get a certain thrill watching her go down at the VMA´s. However that said I also think Britney has had a raw deal - yes she brought a lot of the troubles on herself but can you blame her for going completely bonkers after slaving in the fame industry since childhood. She is pop music´s equivalent of Anna Nicole Smith and for a while there she was about to end up like her.
I hope she gets help, and severs tie´s with her money & fame managing family and gets herself a personality.
I thought Britney´s last album was her best to date (which isn´t saying much I know) - I quite liked it actually. It had some edge to it something, I feel Hard Candy is lacking.
The Madonna/Britney reunion could be Madonna´s way of ending media speculation on the "She´s not Me" track. And perhaps in some small way Madonna might have felt guilty for Shanghai-ing the publicity that was meant for Britney´s 2003 album. It flopped right? Madonna did get a lot of flack and perhaps Madonna is making amends here?
Side note:
I wonder if Madonna will make use of the brilliant hologram technology which is getting better and better. Perhaps Britney & Justin will be beamed in. It could be a lot of fun and something different than the usual screen backdrops. I think in a live setting holograms really work.
Regarding the "She´s not me", the rumoured split could be attributed to Robbie Williams song from last year "She´s Madonna". It certainly did put Guy Ritchie in a bad light.
From Wikipedia:
--------------------
"She's Madonna" was inspired by a conversation Robbie Williams had with Guy Ritchie's ex-girlfriend Tania Strecker, about the way Ritchie left her for Madonna - Strecker quoted Ritchie as saying "Look, you know I really love you, but she's Madonna."[5] According to the BBC's Top of the Pops website, Williams had played the song to Madonna shortly after writing it, receiving a positive reaction.[5] According to the UK tabloid newspaper The Sun, Williams wanted Madonna to star alongside him in the video, but Guy Ritchie, now her husband, objected, having realised that the song with its chorus "I love you, baby, but face it, she's Madonna / No man on earth could say that he don't want her" was based on the line he used to leave Strecker for Madonna.

RW also dated Strecker.
