Stealing Second

I was impressed with the quality of the speeches yesterday, which I watched on C-SPAN. Fucking CNN was talking over the speech by John Kerry—the Democratic nominee for president last time who received more Democratic votes than any other person in history! And surprisingly, Kerry gave one of the best, most fiery speeches of the whole damned convention:

Loved it. I was also excited by President Clinton's speech. Yes, I caught that he "loves" Joe Biden and didn't express such effusive praise for Barack Obama, but I also caught that he went out of his way to compare his "inexperience" in 1992 to Barack's now, which is the definition of generous and gracious:

Finally, I really liked Joe Biden's speech, which can be boiled down to 'I'm a working-class Catholic dude, vote for me' and 'McCain will screw you over.' His best actual quote was the plain and simple, "John McCain was wrong":

Oh, and from the night before last, I missed Governor Ted Strickland of Ohio, whose speech included the soon-to-be-classic line, "George W. Bush came into office on third base, and then he stole second!":
