Please pass this one around. The pregnancy is hilarious, but this really cuts closer to home on why Sarah Palin is not a joke, she's a nightmare:
The story here is not that she's a fookin' idiot with zero experience, it's that John McCain—who is not (or was not?) a fookin' idiot with zero experience—didn't vet her almost at all, raising questions about his judgment. Check out this brilliant New York Times analysis of his folly.
Unfortunately, half this country sees her as a woman who did not have an abortion and that is good enough for them. Remember we are not dealing with a great number of logical, educated people here. Many Republicans don't care who the candidate is, as long as their party is in power.

Not half, some. Not all, most. I'm not saying we'll win 100-0. All we need is 50.1-49.9. But at the rate things are going, we'll be 55-45 or better. She is disintegrating on so many levels.

I do hope you're right but remember when we were all so sure there was no way Bush would be reelected? Don't forget about the people who say they're voting for Obama but then when they get to the polling booth, just won't be able to deal with a black man running the country. Don't forget about the scare tactics the Republicans will use in the next 3 months. Don't forget about the constant reminders of 9/11. Don't forget about the terrorist attack Cheney will coordinate in October. Don't forget about the inevitable voter fraud - again. All I'm saying is you can never underestimate these sleazy, lying, win-at-all-costs, hypocritical bastards.

Jason: First, come down offa the roof, boy! :0) I don't remember thinking there was no way Bush would win that 2nd term. In fact, all the polls in the final days of the election showed him ahead, if by a fraction. The guess was just which way the final-second deciders would break. It was never a done deal, poll-wise and tea-leaves-wise.
There are only 2, not 3, months, so it's crunch time for both.
Next, yes, ANYTHING could happen that could be a game-changer. A terrorist attack, the death of a candidate, who knows what.
They are already (ab)using 9/11—Joe Lieberman just did it tonight, Bush is doing it tonight. But people are OVAH that. They now have 7 years of that to look back on and go, "Wait....a....minute...."
I'm not saying it's a done deal—it never is! But right now, even with the inevitable bounce McCain/Palin should get after this week (I expect nothing less than a fabulous speech from Palin tomorrow night, one that shows how cute, funny and sincere she "is"), I believe the fundamentals are absolutely in place for a Democratic landslide. Our electorate has been JAZZED to vote for a Dem for a year. Theirs is JUST NOW getting late word of an anti-abortion chick on the ticket.
In the last election, Kerry got more votes than any Dem, ever. Bush won because he had more Republican votes. The religious nuts are nothing if not loyal.
But this time, Obama will have MORE Dems than Repubs voting, and he is VERY likely to win a much, much larger portion of the black vote, the woman vote, the Latino vote and the independent vote.
There will be some racism, but not enough to harm him.
Barring a game-changer, he is in position to win
I just will be sick to my stomach if Palin continues to dazzle the righties because I want them to be sad and not happy for 60 days until they become suicidal the day of the election's results.
