California's malevolent Proposition 8 was looking like it would be defeated—it attempts to negate that state's Supreme Court decision making gay marriage legal, thus nullifying all the marriages that have already happened—but now it's looking like it could easily be approved. One issue? Money. The other side has the Catholic church, the fucking Mormons (fuck you, Donny and Marie, and fuck all the gay people who think she's cute and who adore her for her '70s incarnation) and every hate-monger alive contributing up to $10 million dollars more than our side.
Our side now includes Ellen DeGeneres, but only because she was shamed into donating money (and then went full-throttle by talking about it on her show, which was cool). You would think a famous lesbian who just got married would have donated on her own. It's not that she's a bad person. But I think the issue is complacency. People are not getting that this could be approved, gay marriage could end for Californians and the anti-gay marriage side could score a decisive and far-reaching victory.
So I'm putting my money where my mouth is and making a big donation. I hope you'll consider donating something, too. JUST CLICK HERE.
(My open note to Madonna: Please donate to this campaign. Please talk about it. Ridiculing Sarah Palin in your concert is awesome and I love it, but change things up by hyping this issue and by sending some of those gay dollars into the hands of the good guys. It's not like you "owe it" to gay people; you've given back before. It's just that this issue is something you clearly support. The time is now. You have got to say what's on your mind. YOUR CHOICE.)
I wish I had some money to donate to the cause

Thanks, Matt, for the example. I just gave and e-mailed friends and family to do the same. I wish I could donate my ticket to see Madonna in Boston to the cause!

Bravo Matt,
I've been donating and did so again today. I also heard about a local church organization in our City, that was planning on taking out full-page ads in our local newspaper, supporting the 'No on 8' campaign, entitled
Churches for equality, NO on 8.
They needed money to help with the ad costs, so we forwarded the email around my work and got lots of donations. I'm also seeing more aggressive ads from our side, (unlike the polite and passive approach some of the older ads used) calling the other side on their lies. It's about time! We've still got over 3 weeks, if we all pull together we can rally against these fanatical liars. Keep it up, boys!!!

I just made my contribution. I really hope this proposition doesn't pass. After other states see the many benefits of granting equal marriage rights (the most "persuasive" benefit being the additional & substantial revenue being pumped into the state's economy -- money talks!), it will help the cause when it once again comes up here in NY & elsewhere.
The more states that allow gay marriage, the stronger the arguments will be that it does NOT "threaten the institution" or any of the other ridiculous & transparent reasons given by the opposition.
It's all been stated before, & I know I've said nothing new in this post. But, I do think it's important to reiterate how much this affects all of us, no matter where we live. Hopefully within our lifetime, this blatant form of prejudice will be nothing but a painful memory.
So, fasten your seatbelts, boys. November 4th is looking like it will be an intense ride. Bumpy, indeed...

Well since you started it, FUCK YOU TOO.
Still love you and Boy Culture though, even if it generally reaks havok on my computer, pissing me off. But since you got personal.... fuck u. I love 70's Marie, betch. Maybe if she woulda had her hairy pussy & pits photographed for any ol' betch to see you'd respect her more.

Ha, no, it's not about having your hairy pussy shot or not, it's about admiring people who are not actively working against you even as you give them your attention, money and time. I liked Donny & Marie back in the day. Why does my site reek havoc? Maybe it's something I can fix...

Matt,
Don't listen Chiko. I haven't seen any havoc, and I'm a regular.
MOST of the people on this site have a IQ and are capable of agreeing to disagree, if we don't have the same views, rather than
getting vulgar...
Keep on, keeping on. Your points are Right on.

It's too bad poor Ellen got shamed into donating. WTF. She is a very powerful and rich lesbian. I think it's great that she talked about it on her show, but come on the campaign is slipping and needs money. Also where is Elton?,Cher, Melissa Etheridge, Lance Bass? or the supposed "Hollywood Liberal Acting Elite"? I thought they would stand up with Brad Pitt.
Madonna needs to say something and donate to No on 8. She used to live in CA and lords no is making a SHITLOAD off this tour. She needs to set an example to her kids If she doesn't say or donate, it will be the last time I buy any her albums, since the latest one isn't so great anyways.
