UPDATE: Begich is up by over 800 votes now...and rising!
Things were looking down for Mark Begich, who was up against convicted felon Ted Stevens for a Senate seat in Alaska—he was down by thousands of votes. But tens of thousands of votes remained uncounted (not to mention a mysterious lack of votes in Alaska considering the fact that up-ticket, Obama had motivated progressives and Sarah Palin had motivated proud Alaskans).
Now, with tens of thousands more votes to count, most from Begich-friendly districts, he's currently ahead by three votes! If he prevails, the seat goes Democratic and that keeps Sarah Palin from any maneuvers to get into the Senate until at least 2010.
