If ever there was a case to be made for Roland Burris as a U.S. senator, it's over now that he himself is trying to cry racism as a way to maintain his fragile hold on the seat. This is exactly the opposite of Pres.-Elect Obama—this is clearly a man of the past (he's also 71), a man of the ilk of the Jesse Jacksons and even the Bill Clintons, the older-style politicians who think hope and change are just clever political slogans.
