Bio6 Thanks to the reader who pointed out to me the death of Earl Wild, who had been called the "last great Romantic pianist," at age 94. Always out, he is survived by his partner, Michael Rolland Davis.

Among Wild's accomplishments were being the first pianist on U.S. TV (in 1939!), performing for six presidents and working until quite recently (Sonata 2000, an original composition, was premiered by another performer just six years ago). There should be many more stories about his career in his forthcoming autobiography, due from Carnegie Mellon Press within months.
