Pop Eater has an exclusive preview of Madonna's Sticky & Sweet DVD (out April 6 in the U.S.) Unfortunately, it's her performance of "4 Minutes," one of the show's least exciting numbers thanks to Timberlake and Timbaland's parts being canned. Looks good, though, and I'm sure fans will be pleased with the full DVD.
Now...Re-Invention? Blond Ambition?
"Now...Re-Invention? Blond Ambition?"
Madonna's fans are never happy!

Actually the Re-invention tour is the tour that I most want to see on DVD. The show happened so fast (I was so excited, it was like a blur) and I have seen very few clips online so I would to experience that Madonna high for a second time.

You folks do realize the full ReInvention Tour leaked online about a month ago? There's a straight through version and one where someone edited the leak into a nice fancy, quite professional DVD. It's of the Lisbon show. It has all of that show's amazing performances - Deeper and Deeper, Vogue, Crazy for You, Nothing Fails, etc - bloopers, (she COMPLETELY hiccups at the end of Express Yourself and you can see the obvious frustration on her face and then the smile/chuckle at herself as the spotlight fades!) some awful bad notes, and of course lots of Madonna clearly having fun.

I'm not ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...
Every clip I've seen looks like it was shot from the nose-bleeds on zoom...

I can't really see the clip because I'm in Europe but I'll say it again: Sticky & Sweet was one the most fun shows she ever put together, it's was a very straightforward dance and sing multimedia extravaganza and I never saw an audience having more fun at any of her shows.
The tv broadcast was well shot and edited so I'm assuming this is close. I didn't like the audio on the tv version tho, they superimposed her clear studio vocals leaving the live raw vocals below and it was all a bit of a mess. I'm hoping this will be corrected in the dvd/cd/blueray release..

I bought a clunky old LaserDisc player on eBay for the sole purpose of watching the Blond Ambition concert! (Well, that and some oddly-edited version of the movie "Bladerunner", which is now commonly available on Blu-ray.) So, yeah, I think that it's time for Blonde Ambition to be released on Blu-ray, so I can throw my two-ton LaserDisc player in the garbage.

Seriously, let's get all of the Alex Keshishian concert footage from Truth or Dare! You know that footage is SOMEWHERE. I'd club a baby seal to see it on blu-ray.

Looks and sounds great - which says a lot because 4 minutes was maybe the dullest part of the show. Can't wait!

Blond Ambition will likely not be released on DVD/blu-ray as long as Pioneer holds the exclusive rights. Madonna could release it, but then she'd sued for breach of contract.
Next time you talk about clubbing a baby seal, why don't you do a little research?!

here we go with the over production like in the Confessions Tour, I wish they would have left the performance as it was broadcast in Europe last summer, it is closer to what we saw on The Drowned World Tour and the leaked version of Re-Invention Tour, just Madonna, singing dancing, and no over imposed images of JT during the performance, give us what we saw on the show live!!! and yes, 4 Minutes was a horrible song (yes I've said it) not even a live performance can save it! I hope she never does it again!

Ok wait. Is the DVD not the same film as the TV broadcast?
Posted by: Andy | March 10, 2010 at 03:01 PM
I'm sure it is, but the DVD looks a little more polished and "enhanced", at least judging from the 4 Minutes clip.

Richard M. We all know that about Pioneer. I take it back. I'd actually club you to see that footage on DVD instead of the poor seal I've been eying. Get off your high horse Mary! Since when did comments on this blog (my favorite btw) become so PC?
