The Perks of Writing a Musical, a new musical Web series described as "Glee meets Wii," has completed principal casting and will launch May 15 on Blip.tv and YouTube.
Series is about a lovestruck tech geek who enlists the aide of his fun-sounding gay BFF to write a musical based on The Perks of Being a Wallflower for a girl who adores the book.
Web series are becoming, more and more, a viable passport to bigger and better things. They're like the student movies of yesteryear, and attract well-known names. In this case, creator Tom Diggs and director Bill Oliver have Broadway and TV stars Alex Wyse, Alex Brightman, Allison Strong, Paul Cereghino (pictured above) and MAD-TV's Arden Myrn signed up.
