Exposed yesterday—NOM's internal directives to "fan the hostility between gays and blacks." See, we're all just minorities to be pitted against each other for their own ends. Disgraceful, even for an org that is already a disgrace. Wonder what they intended to do about gay black people...make them hate themselves?

On the topic of marriage equality, count me in as someone who does not care if President Obama "evolves" before the election. I have no doubt—none—that he will be our nation's first pro-marriage equality president after and if he wins, but I'm not so impatient nor so short-sighted to risk our gains and our future gains just to take a principled stand before November. I'd rather have the president continue to back-burner marriage until he's got another four years, when he will have the power to help do something about it and really change minds, including within said black community. (Talk about outreach!)

Imagine a hard-fought election in which President Romney emerges the victor because a state or two that should have gone Obama went the other way out of marriage fears? We got Bush the second time thanks in no small part to that very issue. I realize marriage equality is coming and that it's at the point where many public figures can embrace it without harm (and, in some cases, to increased popularity). But this is the presidency, and a president has to win over a huge cross-section of voters. In my opinion, his evolution can wait a year, and I hope gay activists will be able to wait if President Obama decides that's the best way to get re-elected.
