Fabulous Boy Culture reader Doug came up and saw me sometime ago, gifting me with this great stuff from the 1940 Census. The Census is kept under wraps for 72 years, so 1940 just made its debut. I'm familiar with these from family research, but in case you aren't, they're handwritten and can be both godsends for genealogy or, in this case, provide wonderful red herrings.
Mae West—on line 69!—gave her information as being 30 years old (she was 46). She's also listed as a woman, which is a subject of some debate. He's found other famous folks, including Judy Garland and Joan Crawford.
