BOY CULTURE REVIEW: **-1/2 out of 4

Madonna has unleashed her "Turn Up the Radio" video over at VEVO. It's cute and has a whimsy that is befitting of the song, though there is also a strange stilted quality, like the abandon of the music can't be caught up with by Tom Munro's blown-out, '60s visuals. Madonna looks good and there is a narrative (of sorts...why are the madding crowds initially annoying but then becomea source of jubilation?), so for a third video from an album, it's not bad. It's just not a video to become obsessed with. Glad she made it one at all!

MDNA=Madonna-Turn-Up-the-Radio-video-VevoMadonna driving around picking up (initially only) hot guys—I guess the car is her mobile Golden Triangle—reminds me of that rumor of her early NYC days from Christopher Andersen's bio. It also reminds me of someone like David Geffen throwing parties and hand-picking only the sexiest men to attend them.

I was noticing that the opening strains of the song (and the opening of the video) are reminiscent of "Drowned World (Substitute for Love)". The video also has a bit of "Music" in it (the prominent limo driver) as well as "Hung Up" (the performers).

"TUTR" becomes one of Madonna's very few videos to feature a current love interest. The ones I can think of off the top of my head would be "Burning Up", "Justify My Love" and "Celebration". Any I'm missing?

Is the video good for you?
