With thanks to Boy Culture reader Shari: This story about Chinese women unwittingly married to gay men—"homo-wives"—is filled with interesting tidbits—the cultural pressures to be married in China, the belief there that homosexuality can be cured, the existence of a Web site that matches gay men with lesbians for sham marriages and the existence of a scam site that offered to support "homo-wives" and yet was really just screwing them over yet again.

Speaking of gay issues and China, the latest dictionary of contemporary slang there has deliberately omitted "tongzhi," which means "comrade" but which more popularly has come to mean "gay."
