Anderson Cooper—erroneously thought by many to have already been out—has come out officially in an e-mail to Andrew Sullivan. He said, in part, "The fact is, I'm gay." And that's what I liked about the way he's done it—it's about facts. That is what journalism, even celebrity-based journalism, should stick to. And that is why outing isn't outing first, it's reporting.
Speaking of facts, or lack of them, the Hollywood Reporter claims his coming out drew "mixed" reactions on Twitter. Because playful jokes from comedians count as negative?
