I'm often accused of posting too much Madonna. Usually, it's not THIS much, but today is her birthday, so please bear with the overabundance if it offends.

Great piece on Madonna as a modern-day witch—it captures a lot of truth about Madonna. Most importantly, it accepts the fact that having opinions on Madonna is not something that begins and ends with the woman herself, but is indicative of much broader issues. That's why I wrote Encyclopedia Madonnica all those years ago—loving or hating Madonna and one's opinions on her many ups and downs and act-outs and flare-ups and flame-outs can bring up ideas and attitudes far more interesting than Madonna herself.
