Gotta admit, the Madonna references are piling up for Gaga.
Above, looking suh-MASHING (meaning, I love it) in Michael Jackson's outfit that he once wore to the Oscars, she still can't escape her "cunty" nemesis:
Some of the complaints ("She's wearing a dress! Madonna once wore a dress!") are obviously ridiculous, and Madonna has done so many different things it's hard not to quote her as a female popstar (though Pink and Katy Perry, to name two, don't particularly vibe on Madonna), but some of these references are getting a bit boring. Removing the "stop copying my diva!" from the equation, it would be nice if Gaga's next album had little to nothing about it that compares too closely to anything Madonna's done just to change the conversation.
I was at the Atlantic City MDNA show where Madonna said of Gaga (and this is as exact a quote as I could get from the video, not what some others have been loosely quoting):
"I wanna dedicate this next song ["Masterpiece"]...to Lady Gaga. You wanna know something? I love her. I love her. I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. And one day very soon we're gonna be on stage togther. You'll see. You think I'm kidding? (I'm?) not Lady Gaga."
I found her comment to be delivered pretty icily. I would love for this bitchfight to be over, but I don't buy suggestions that they're just funnin' and mutually milking the PR. There seems to be genuine distaste here. Madonna says Gaga's name like it's almost too ridiculous to say out loud (which is kind of funny). Anyway, I've got great video of it. Please don't hate on my obnoxious watermark, but I've had videos being used on massive news shows and blogs (being ripped from my upload rather than embedding) with no credit or payment so this is free for serious Madonna fans who want to study her up close and share it via embedding:
Are you sick of the Madonna vs. Gaga war yet? And by "yet," I mean six months ago? Do you think they really will end up on stage together soon to bury the hatchet?
Oh, and here's a nice video of Madonna doing "Holiday" at Atlantic City and her hilarious banter with the crowd. Not as newsworthy and so no watermark for all you anti-watermarkers:
Finally, a random Madonna mash-up with the Rolling Stones that's pretty righteous.
