Ted Haggard's Haas Of Cards

Ted Haggard's one-time lover, Grant Haas, has spilled even more of his guts to Michelangelo Signorile. Alexandra Pelosi should make a movie about him before Michael Lucas does.

Turns out—GASP!—that Haggard and his wife are lying about lots of details. Not surprising. But I still have to give Haggard and his wife props for their media savvy—as diametrically opposed as I am to so much of what they say, they have come off as very plain-spoken. Scary—maybe he'll attract a whole new congregation around him, and with it a whole new flock of potential fuck buddies.

New Life? Same Old Fucking Story!

The young man who has come forward about his sexual relationship with Ted Haggard was interviewed by a local news station. His story is sad in that he was so (is so?) conflicted about his homosexuality that he felt he had no choice but to sleep with Haggard, and was so guilt-ridden about it he attempted suicide four times. Haggard's New Life Church paid him off to shut him up, but apparently reneged on a deal to pay his hospital bills, leading to this public admission (timed to coincide with the debut of Alexandra Pelosi's sympathetic The Trials Of Ted Haggard doc).

An "overwhelming pool of evidence" (nice visual!) points to the fact that disgraced pastor Ted Haggard dabbled in more than just hustler-white Mike Jones; he also practiced his black-sheep ways with a twentysomething church volunteer with whom he had an affair that "went on for a long period of time...it wasn't a one-time act." So says Brady Boyd, the pastor who took over for Haggard when the Jones scandal broke.

The Other Mrs. Haggard turns out to have been discovered by the church back in late '06, too, but church officials never revealed that part of the Haggard story until now. The reason? Even though there was apparently a pay-off financial settlement that included counseling dollars (ha!) and college tuition, the young man had decided to give an account of the affair to a Colorado Springs TV station...and once the church confirmed that, they spilled.

Boyd claims: "The decision was made not as an attempt to conceal wrongdoings, but to protect him from those who would seek to exploit him. His actions now suggest that he has changed his mind."

Part of what may have changed his mind: Seeing Haggard making a slew of appearances to plug Alexandra Pelosi's HBO documentary about his life, The Trials Of Ted Haggard, appearances during which Haggard seems to be playing the victim.
