The Life Of Emile Comments (1)

Untitled14

Emile Hirsch is shot by Francesco Carrozzini for L'Uomo Vogue (March 2009), looking every inch a Hollywood leading man—definitely a less "quirky" shoot for him this time:

The Homosexual Gourmand Comments (0)

From V Magazine (Spring Preview 2009), both Josh Brolin and Emile Hirsch are shot by Mark Abrahams as reps of recent best screen performances. The mag's other choices? Michelle Williams in Wendy And Lucy, Marisa Tomei in The Wrestler, Dakota Fanning in The Secret Life Of Bees, Dev Patel from Slumdog Millionaire, Dustin Hoffman from Last Chance Harvey, Kristin Scott Thomas from I've Loved You So Long, Sally Hawkins from Happy-Go-Lucky and Patricia Clarkson from Elegy:

The Slumdog & The Gay-Ghetto Pitbull Comments (2)

Slumdog-millionaire-fl-01A kiss is still a kiss, Mumbai is still Mumbai.

I saw Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire on Thanksgiving and was grateful to have chosen this movie over several other contenders—unexpectedly, perhaps because I had almost no idea what it was about, I found it to be a riveting, genuinely exciting and ultimately emotionally true film, one that I consider to be the best film of 2008 that I've seen so far.

2072251217a5350257281l The conceit of the literally but unfortunately titled Slumdog Millionaire is that young Jamal (Dev Patel) from the slums of Mumbai has been winning huge amounts of money on the Hindi version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?, but his ability to get the questions right has attracted the interest of the police, who are attempting to torture another kind of answer out of him: How is he cheating?

This ain't no Regis Philbin walk in the park.

Instead of cheating, he seems to have learned the answers through his incredible life experience, leading to a surprising wealth of knowledge in certain areas and a surprising lack of knowledge in most others. Is it fate?

Do The Congo, I Know You Can't Control Yourself Any Longer Comments (0)

Sc0000f110

So far, Emile Hirsch has been shamefully overlooked with any nominations for his fine performance in Milk. But the 23-year-old has bigger fish to fry—for Men's Journal (January 2009), he takes on the Congo in an exclusive diary of his visit there.

"I introduce myself as 'ambassador' and the village goes stone quiet. Until, that is, the laughter begins."
